マニプール州の複雑な民族的背景において、アイデンティティは単なるラベルではありません。それは共有された遺産であり、これからもそうあり続けるでしょう。しかし、この遺産は政治化された物語や誤情報によって歪められています。2025年8月7日付の「Behind the Truth（真実の背後で）」という偽名で発表されたプレス声明は、この傾向を如実に表しています。この声明は、ゾミ族とクキ族のコミュニティを分断しようとするもので、マイケル・ラムザタン・ハオキプ氏のような人物による以前の主張を踏襲しています。彼は、タドゥ族はクキ族ではないと物議を醸した主張を展開し、メイテイ族の聴衆を誤解させ、コミュニティ間の混乱を深めています。
これらの物語は歴史や文化に根ざしたものではなく、個人的な政治的思惑に基づいており、N・ビレン・シン前首相の利益に影響されているとされています。こうした声は、彼らのコミュニティを代表するものではありません。
この混乱により、ナガ族やメイテイ族の同胞を含む多くの人々が、「ゾミ族、クキ族、サドゥー族は本当に別のものなのだろうか？それとも、共通の遺産の表現なのだろうか？」と疑問を抱いています。
答えは明白です。人類学的、言語学的、そして系図学的証拠は、ゾミ族、クキ族、タドゥ族が同じ祖先の系図から枝分かれしていることを裏付けています。彼らは血統、支族、慣習、言語、そして文化的慣習を共有しており、地域的な違いはあるものの、ナガ族のゼメイ族、リャンマイ族、ロンメイ族とよく似ています。ナガ族は、ゼリアンロンという一つの民族として認識されています。
• パイテ・ゾミ革命戦線（ZRF）の指導者P.S.ハンシン、ゾミ革命軍（ZRA）の指導者ロビン・ハンシン、そしてクキ革命軍（KRA）の指導者デイビッド・ハンシンは、いずれも同じハンシン家系の出身です。それぞれパイテ、ゾミ、クキという異なる名称で呼ばれていますが、彼らの家系のルーツは一つです。
• ZRAの最高指導者であるタンリアンパウ・ギーテ氏と、デリー首都圏のクキ学生組織の会長である扇動家パオジャクップ・ギーテ氏は、ともにギーテ氏族に属しています。一方はゾミ、他方はクキという公的な身分は、系譜上の相違ではなく、政治的立場を反映しています。
• ゾミ評議会議長のヴム・スアン・ナウラック氏は、タドゥ・クキ族のディンゲル家系と氏族のつながりを共有しています。所属は異なりますが、彼らの祖先との繋がりは否定できません。
• ゾミ評議会のメンバーであるパウザラル・ハンシン氏は、カンポクピの元ADC会長である故ハウコラル・ハンシン氏と同族であり、認識されている境界を越えて共通の遺産があることのさらなる証拠です。
• クキ・インピ・マニプール（KIM）の社長、アジャン・コンサイ氏は、ゾミの旗の下、ルントゥル村の村長クプレン・タンゲオ氏と氏族のルーツを共有している。彼らの所属は異なるかもしれませんが、彼らの血統は一致しています。
• Behind the Truth (BTT) チャンネルの匿名管理者 Tonkhanlen Tonsing 氏と Zomi 学生連盟会長 Nengzalen Tonsing 氏は、両者ともに氏族的には Haokip であり、Tonsing 氏は Haokip のサブ氏族として認められています。
• ニューラムカの著名なゾミ族起業家であるダリアン・ハオキプ氏と、トゥイボンの著名なクキ族教育者であるヴァンラリアン・ハオキプ氏は近親者です。一方はゾミ族、もう一方はクキ族であると自認していますが、二人は同じ家族に属しています。
ゾミ、クキ、パイテの区別は、血統や文化に根ざしたものではなく、政治的、地域的、そして歴史的文脈によって形成された名称に根ざしています。共通の姓、氏族、そして血縁関係は、より深い真実を明らかにしています。つまり、これらのアイデンティティは対立的なものではなく、関係性に基づくものなのです。
今こそ、ナガ族とメイテイ族の兄弟姉妹が考えるべき時です。ゾミ族、クキ族、タドゥ族は本当に異なるのでしょうか？それとも、敬意を払いつつも似たような、同じように異なる存在なのでしょうか？インドとバーラトのように？メイテイ族とミーテイ族のように？ボロ族とボド族のように？
この声明は、ゾミ、クキ、タドゥの名において発せられたものではない。インドのゾウ族とミャンマーのゾウ族によって発せられたものだ。名前は違っても、血は一つであることを改めて示すものだ。

In Manipur's complex ethnic landscape, identity is not just a label. It is and will always be a shared legacy. Yet this legacy is being distorted by politicized narratives and misinformation. A press statement dated August 7, 2025, issued under the pseudonym Behind the Truth (BTT), exemplifies this trend. It attempts to divide the Zomi and Kuki communities, echoing earlier claims by figures like Michael Lamzathang Haokip, who controversially argued that Thadous are not Kukis, thereby misleading Meitei audiences and deepening communal confusion.
These narratives are not grounded in history or culture. They serve personal and political agendas, allegedly influenced by former Chief Minister N. Biren Singh's interests. Such voices do not represent their communities.
This confusion has led many, including our Naga and Meitei brethren, to ask: Are Zomis, Kukis, and Thadous truly separate? Or are they expressions of a shared heritage?
The answer is clear. Anthropological, linguistic, and genealogical evidence affirms that Zomis, Kukis, and Thadous are branches of the same ancestral tree. They share bloodlines, sub-clans, customs, language, and cultural practices much like the Zemei, Liangmai, and Rongmei, among the Nagas, who are recognized as one people, Zeliangrong, despite regional differences.
• PS Hangshing, leader of the Paite Zomi Revolutionary Front (ZRF); Robin Hangshing, leader of the Zomi Revolutionary Army (ZRA); and David Hangshing, leader of the Kuki Revolutionary Army (KRA), all hail from the same Hangshing lineage. Although each aligns with a different nomenclature, i.e., Paite, Zomi, and Kuki, respectively, their familial roots remain one.
• Thanglianpau Guite, Supremo of the ZRA, and the Firebrand Paojakhup Guite, President of the Kuki Student Organisation in Delhi NCR, both belong to the Guite clan. Their public identities, one as Zomi, the other as Kuki, reflect political positioning, not genealogical divergence.
• Vum Suan Naulak, Chairman of the Zomi Council, shares clan ties with the Dimngel lineage of the Thadou Kukis. Despite differing affiliations, their ancestral connection is undeniable.
• Pauzalal Hangshing, a member of the Zomi Council, is from the same family as the late Haukholal Hangshing, former ADC Chairman of Kangpokpi, further evidence of shared heritage across perceived boundaries.
• Ajang Khongsai, President of Kuki Innpi Manipur (KIM), shares clan roots with Khuplen Thangngeo, Chief of Lungthul village under the Zomi banner. Their affiliations may differ, but their lineage converges.
• The anonymous administrators of the Behind the Truth (BTT) channel Tonkhanlen Tonsing and Nengzalen Tonsing, President of the Zomi Student Federation, are both Haokips by clan, with Tonsing recognized as a sub-clan of Haokip.
• Dallian Haokip, a prominent Zomi entrepreneur in New Lamka, and Vanlallian Haokip, a leading Kuki educationist in Tuibong, are close relatives. One identifies as Zomi, the other as Kuki. Yet both belong to the same family.
The distinctions between Zomi, Kuki, and Paite are not rooted in blood or culture, but in nomenclature shaped by political, regional, and historical contexts. The shared surnames, clans, and kinship ties reveal a deeper truth: these identities are not oppositional—they are relational.
It is now for our Naga and Meitei brothers and sisters to reflect. Are Zomi, Kuki, and Thadou truly distinct, or are they deferentially similar, similarly different? Like India and Bharat? Meitei and Meetei? Boro and Bodo?
This communique is not issued in the name of Zomi, Kuki, or Thadou. It is voiced by a Zou in India and a Zo in Myanmar. A reminder that beneath the names, the blood remains one.
